2025

Role: UX & Product Designer (Solo Project)

Duration: 8 weeks

Tools: Figma, Adobe Photoshop

Case Study
A playful way to stay on top of home cleaning.

turns home cleaning into a simple, satisfying ritual.
Instead of messy lists or forgotten chores, it helps you track, manage, and complete household tasks — all while watching your progress come to life through art.
Each completed task colours in part of a minimalist line drawing. By the end of the month, if you’ve kept up, your full illustration is revealed — a clean home and a clean canvas.

The Problem
Managing household chores sounds simple — but it rarely is.
Whether you live alone or share a space, cleaning tasks often pile up,
get forgotten, or feel never-ending.
Most existing cleaning apps are overly functional, dull, or uninspiring.
The result: inconsistent routines and low motivation to maintain them.

The Opportunity
How might we design a system that keeps cleaning organized and rewarding, turning routine maintenance into a small daily win?
The Spark
The idea started from personal frustration.
I noticed how easy it was to forget smaller tasks: watering plants, taking out the trash,
wiping surfaces, until the house suddenly felt overwhelming. I wanted a
tool that didn’t just remind me to clean, but made me want to.
That’s when the concept of linking progress to an artwork came to life.
clean your home, complete your art.

Research & Insights
To validate the idea, I conducted informal interviews with 10 people
(students, professionals, and small families).

Key Insights:
90% said they forget small cleaning tasks until it’s too late
70% use no system to track or share cleaning duties
80% said they’d be more consistent if cleaning felt “more visual or rewarding”
Pain Points
Lack of motivation
Overwhelming task lists
No visual sense of accomplishment
Desires
Quick, clear reminders
Visual progress feedback
Personal satisfaction or gamification
Primary User
The busy home dweller: someone who juggles work, home care, and wants a stress-free cleaning routine.

Secondary User
The shared-space resident: flatmates, couples, or small families who want visibility on who cleaned what.

User Goals
As a user, I want to:
• Log and track household cleaning tasks easily
• Visually see my progress
• Stay consistent with reminders and motivation
• Feel a sense of reward when I complete all my tasks

Prototyping & Testing
Low-fidelity wireframes were built in
Figma and tested with 5 users.
What I learned:
• Users loved the visual reward system.
• Some wanted to assign colour themes to different types of chores.
• Gamification increased daily engagement.
• Users requested notifications
for missed tasks.
Based on feedback, I added:
• A reminder system.
• Custom color themes for chores.
• Option to reset drawings monthly.

From Ideas to Interfaces
I started by mapping user flows, from adding a new task to marking
it complete and watching the artwork fill in.

Final Design:
The final design is calming, minimal, and visually satisfying, just like a freshly cleaned home.
Clean tones keep the focus on the illustrated artwork, while subtle animations reinforce progress.
Key visual features:
• Clean typography and intuitive icons
• A progress tracker of line drawings that fill gradually
• Seamlessly add, track, and complete your cleaning tasks
Reflection
Designing reminded me how motivation and beauty can coexist in everyday systems.
A small dopamine hit, seeing art progress as you clean, can transform a mundane
routine into a meaningful habit. The project deepened my understanding of how visual
feedback can drive behavioral consistency in UX design.
